Dues Model

Annual Support

For decades, Har Zion’s annual membership dues have been determined and tiered based on High Holiday seating reservations (i.e., Section I, II or III, with dues highest in Section I and lowest in Section III). But today, this tiered structure does not reflect who we are as a holy community. Har Zion Temple values each and every member without regard to High Holiday seating selection, and our annual membership dues enable the synagogue to provide year-round benefits of membership to all members. As such, Har Zion is shifting to a new dues model.

Har Zion believes the shift away from determining annual membership dues based on High Holiday seating reservations better reflects the Har Zion of today. At the same time, we respect that many members feel a passionate connection to certain seating during the High Holidays because of family traditions, proximity to friends, or location in the sanctuary. We also understand that during the busiest and holiest times, knowing exactly which seats will be open for you and your family, whenever you choose to arrive for services, is appealing to many. Knowing who might be sitting near you, and reconnecting with them during the holidays, is a wonderful tradition at Har Zion, and can strengthen your feeling of community during the High Holidays.

Har Zion’s new dues structure more clearly recognizes our commitment to belonging, communal prayer, participation, inclusion, equity, understanding and compassion. Still, while seating during the High Holidays will be treated separately from membership dues, all are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to reserve seating during the High Holidays and further support Har Zion Temple for the benefit of all in the Har Zion family.
