Help Keep Daily Minyan Strong at Har Zion Temple

Daily minyan only works when people show up. By being part of this sacred rhythm of Jewish life, you help ensure that Har Zion remains a place where congregants can come to pray, say Kaddish, find community, and support one another.

Why Daily Minyan Matters

A daily minyan is more than a service. It is one of the ways we show up for each other as a Jewish community.

For some, minyan is about prayer and spiritual grounding. For others, it is about being there to say Kaddish, mark a yahrzeit, or support someone going through a difficult time. It is a powerful reminder that Jewish life does not happen alone. It happens in community.

When we maintain a strong daily minyan, we make sure Har Zion is a place where no one has to wonder if there will be enough people in the room.

That matters deeply.

Starting this Fall

Once we have a committed group in place, WhatsApp can help us stay connected in real time.

The WhatsApp group will be used for simple, practical updates like:

  • letting people know when we still need a few more for minyan
  • confirming when we’re covered
  • making it easier for congregants to step in at the last minute
  • building a sense of shared purpose around this mitzvah

This group is meant to support coordination, encouragement, and community.

Har Zion Congregant

“My path to minyan began with saying Kaddish for my parents, but it became so much more. At Har Zion, I found comfort, friendship, and the strength of a community that shows up for one another. No one says Kaddish alone here. Every person matters, and every person makes a difference.”

“When my husband passed away, attending daily minyan became my lifeline.  It gave me a reason to get up each morning and a structure to my day.  The ‘regulars’ looked out for me, asking if I was OK if I missed a day.  Minyan provided me with a wonderful circle of caring friends, for which I am most grateful.”

“A minyan of ten adults is important for the community and a support for those particularly remembering loved ones on their yahrzeit or mourners Kaddish on a recent loss.”

“Minyan morning or evening is a special place to be to re-center your being.  To spend 20-30 minutes praying and not be consumed with daily pressures.  To relax with other people, praying to G-d. Feeling refreshed to move on with your day.”

“When each of my parents died, I attended minyan to say Kaddish, mostly out of obligation.  At first, I wasn’t familiar with the daily services, but I started to read passages in English and the prayers became more meaningful.  The support and camaraderie I found was very helpful during the grieving period.”

We are building a group of congregants who are willing to help sustain our daily minyan, especially when an extra few people can make all the difference.

Being a Minyan Maker does not mean you are committing to come every day. It means you are raising your hand and saying:

“When I can help, I want to help.”

By joining the list, you’ll receive occasional reminders, updates, and opportunities to step in when your presence can help complete the minyan.
