Join Rabbi Shawn for inspirational learning at this weekly TISCH. Rooted in the tradition of gathering around the table for focused Torah learning, this class is dedicated to studying Halakha (Jewish law) through the lens of the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah, one of the most comprehensive and influential legal codes in Jewish history.

Each week, we’ll work through selections of the text together, exploring not just what the law says, but the reasoning, logic, and values behind it. The Rambam’s Mishneh Torah is known for its clarity and systematic approach, organizing centuries of rabbinic law into a coherent and accessible structure, making it an ideal text for sustained, in-depth study. Along the way, we’ll encounter questions that connect ancient legal reasoning to the way we live as Jews today.

No prior experience with Halakha or the Mishneh Torah is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to dig in. New participants are welcome to join at any time as we work steadily through the text together.

Class Schedule

Tuesdays from 8:15AM to 9:15AM

Classes can be attended in-person at Har Zion Temple or over Zoom. Participants are encouraged to attend the full series.
