As our Executive Director, Gavi spends his time working with the accounting and administration staff, helping the senior staff and lay leadership, and serving the congregation, trying to make Har Zion the best it can be. When you have a problem and are not sure where to turn, his door is always open. His passion is solving problems: from equipment or technology issues, to improving organizational dynamics, to handling conflicts between staff, lay leaders, congregants and vendors - all while trying to keep a smile on his face.
Do you want the congregation to know about your event or program? Then please come see me. As Marketing and Communications Coordinator, I compile the information for the Bulletin, E-highlights, Shabbat brochure, as well as coordinating with constituent groups for distributing their printed pieces. Har Zion's abuzz every day with activity - there's never a dull moment!
Beverly is our Bar and Bat Mitzvah coordinator. Bar and Bat Mitzvah families should contact Beverly if they have any questions relating to their upcoming simcha. Beverly is here to help, so please don't hesitate to call or email her.
As an Administrative Assistant in the office, Phyllis backs up personnel as needed. Specific job responsibilities include mail processing, maintaining equipment and supply orders, tracking copier and postage usage. She assists the constituent groups in disseminating information. Phyllis is also the payables clerk.
As Accounting Manager, Ellen acts as a liaison between our Executive Director and Public Accountants for on-going financial reviews and internal controls of the approved budgets and actual financial reporting for Har Zion.
Sharon, the Administrator and Resource Coordinator for our Religious School, comes to us with an MBA and experience as a research director, marketing manager and assistant director at Young Judea. She can be found in the office working on our on-line weekly newsletter, flyers, registration, coordinating the teacher resource room, and working as the logistic coordinator during school hours. Sharon is married with two daughters, who attend our religious school, and her family has been members of the Har Zion family for over 30 years.
Laurie is responsible for updating and maintaining the accounts receivable system including the entry of payments, billings and adjustments; preparation of reports, statements and receipts; and verification of the accuracy of accounts.
Shonnie is our Programming and Event Coordinator, who helps the wide range of congregants, clergy, staff, and volunteers who plan events at Har Zion. She is the liaison to the rest of the administrative staff, marketing staff, maintenance staff, and outside vendors who are all necessary to run successful events. Whether planning a committee meeting for 3 people or an extended kiddush for 300, Shonnie is the primary contact.
Suzy Levin is the Administrative Assistant to the clergy. Her job involves working on various projects such as Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparations; coordinating appointments and schedules for the clergy; working on the Book of Remembrance; sending out yahrzeit letters, congregational emails, weekly messages and sermons; as well as various other duties which require the attention of clergy, staff and certain committees.
Jim is the Building Supervisor for Har Zion Temple. He oversees the maintenance of the synagogue's physical plant, property and equipment. He is responsible for all maintenance and repair work coordinated with outside contractors. Jim also performs in-house repairs when appropriate. He manages the janitorial staff and works closely with the Executive Director. Jim assists in the control of the annual maintenance budget and maintains the inventory of supplies and equipment. He is on-call 24 hours a day!
Amy is the point of contact for new members, and oversees membership and seating for the High Holy Days, including guest seating. Amy is also the point person for yahrzeit plaques, chai wall plaques, and other membership-related issues. Amy also assists Har Zion's President and lay leaders in carrying out their responsibilities by keeping track of agendas, meetings, and minutes and providing a variety of other assistance.
As Receptionist, Harriet fields phone calls, and assists congregants and visitors alike. She assists other staff with general clerical work, data entry, and input of data for the Har Zion Bulletin.
Gail, Administrative Assistant for The Noreen Cook Center for Early Childhood Education, is no stranger to Har Zion Temple: she was the warm voice and welcoming face we all knew as our Receptionist for several years. She may have changed offices, but her great attitude stays the same.
