Becoming a member of Har Zion Temple
Why join Har Zion Temple? Membership in a synagogue provides a spiritual connection to the larger Jewish community. Our size and structure allow us to offer many paths to synagogue involvement: prayer, education, celebration and social activities, all within the framework of an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue. Har Zion is about belonging to a community where you are accepted for who you are, supported in growing Judaically and spiritually on the path that is right for you, encouraged to experience opportunities for learning at every age and every level, and appreciated as you make your mark on the greater Jewish world.
There are a multitude of communities within the Har Zion family in which members can join and participate. We offer twice-daily minyan, Shabbat services, youth services and several learner's services.
Our educational programs provide award-winning instruction for everyone. Our youngest children can start their journey at The Noreen Cook Center for Early Childhood Education, then continue on to the accredited Jane Fishman Grinberg Religious School, eventually attending Hebrew High School and A.M. Ellis Midrasha, which affords students the opportunity to become certified Religious School teachers. Madregot is our program for children with special needs and Har Zion is the only synagogue on the Main Line to offer this type of program.
Our community and social groups, such as Sisterhood, Men's Club, PTA and HSA welcome you to join in a myriad of activities. The site index will give detailed information on all the areas in which you may become involved.
Benefits of Membership
As a benefit of membership, you have access to our clergy and staff for pastoral counseling, hospital visitation, and meeting similar needs. You are entitled to use the synagogue facilities in observance of life cycle events, such as brit milah and baby namings, b'nai mitzvot, weddings, and funerals. There is also complimentary (well, we do have fees for maintenance and security) use of our ballroom and several smaller rooms for lifecycle events. Additionally, members receive significant tuition discounts to The Noreen Cook Center for Early Childhood Education and the Har Zion Day Camp (a full service day camp including an in-ground pool for children ages 2-6).
