Administrative Assistant to the Clergy
Laurie is our Clergy Administrator. She has a BA, MBA, and close to 30 years of experience working in the Jewish community. Laurie sends out weekly messages from the clergy and bereavement notices; as well as coordinating appointments and schedules for the clergy. You can find Laurie in the Sall Study next to Rabbi Rosenberg’s office. If you have an upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah, baby naming, or other life cycle event, Mazel Tov – and come see Laurie!
Kitchen and Event Manager
Emily coordinates food requests for our kitchen from staff, volunteers and congregants. She also coordinates staff support to meet the food needs. Emily orders food (which includes inventory, coordinating purchases from vendors and by volunteers and helps to organize expenses for tracking). In addition, Emily assists with planning extended kiddushes and coordinates private rentals of Har Zion Temple (including congregants and outside rentals). She also assists with food preparation and presentation.

Director of Early Childhood Education
Debbie Folz is the Director of Early Childhood Education. She oversees The Noreen Cook Center, the preschool, as well as Har Zion Day Camp. She has been at Har Zion Temple for over 34 years, as a teacher, counselor, Day Camp Director, and for the last 14 years as Director of Early Childhood Education. She has been married to her childhood sweetheart, Bob, for 42 years and has two children, Rebecca and Scott, daughter-in-law Erica and a granddog Burton. Whether dancing at morning carpool, visiting classrooms or getting into the Shabbat feeling for Friday morning services, Debbie has a passion for our youngest learners. In her free time she loves to travel, however she always feels blessed to come home to her families, both Folz and Har Zion.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Coordinator
Beverly is our Bar and Bat Mitzvah coordinator. Bar and Bat Mitzvah families should contact Beverly if they have any questions relating to their upcoming simcha. Beverly is here to help, so please don’t hesitate to call or email her.
As an Administrative Assistant in the office, Phyllis backs up personnel as needed. Specific job responsibilities include mail processing, maintaining equipment and supply orders, tracking copier and postage usage. She assists the constituent groups in disseminating information. Phyllis is also the payables clerk.
Administrative Assistant, Scheduling
Sharon, the Administrator and Resource Coordinator for educational programs, comes to us with an MBA and experience as a research director, marketing manager and assistant director at Young Judea. She can be found in the office working on our on-line weekly newsletter, flyers, registration, coordinating the teacher resource room, and working as the logistic coordinator during school hours. Sharon also handles the scheduling of events and is the “keeper of the calendar.” Sharon is married with two daughters, who attend our religious school, and her family has been members of Har Zion Temple for over 30 years.
See Jane when you want the congregation to know about any and all events you are planning. As Communications Coordinator, she compiles the information for the Bulletin, E-highlights, Shabbat brochure, congregational emails, as well as coordinating with constituent groups for distributing their printed pieces. Har Zion’s abuzz every day with activity – there’s never a dull moment!
As Accounting Manager, Ellen acts as a liaison between our Executive Director and Public Accountants for on-going financial reviews and internal controls of the approved budgets and actual financial reporting for Har Zion Temple.
Laurie is responsible for updating and maintaining the accounts receivable system including the entry of payments, billings and adjustments; preparation of reports, statements and receipts; and verification of the accuracy of accounts.
Jim oversees the maintenance of the synagogue’s physical plant, property and equipment. He is responsible for all maintenance and repair work coordinated with outside contractors. Jim also performs in-house repairs when appropriate. He manages the janitorial staff and works closely with the Executive Director. Jim assists in the control of the annual maintenance budget and maintains the inventory of supplies and equipment. He is on-call 24 hours a day!
As our Executive Director, Gavi spends his time working with the accounting and administration staff, helping the senior staff and lay leadership, and serving the congregation, trying to make Har Zion Temple the best it can be. When you have a problem and are not sure where to turn, his door is always open. His passion is solving problems: from equipment or technology issues, to improving organizational dynamics, to interfacing with staff, lay leaders, congregants and vendors – all while keeping a smile on his face!
As Receptionist, Harriet fields phone calls, and assists congregants and visitors alike. She assists other staff with general clerical work, data entry, and input of data for the Har Zion Bulletin.

Rachel is the administrative assistant for the Noreen Cook Center for Early Childhood Education. Whether helping a parent with billing, a teacher with ordering supplies or assisting the Director with getting ready for a special event, Rachel is always ready, willing and able with a smile on her face!
